If you’re looking to make a big difference in health care while enjoying an outstanding quality of life, you owe it to yourself to choose Northern Health in beautiful Northern British Columbia.
Northern Health is the biggest health organization by geography in BC. We care for over 289,000 people in two dozen municipalities across an area larger than France. But despite our huge size, we’re actually smaller and friendlier. You’ll get to know your colleagues better, and work closer together in caring for patients. Our communities mirror our health facilities: they’re comfortable, friendly, and full of opportunities.
As we work to become a model of excellence in rural health care, Northern Health has some exciting projects on the go. We’re working harder to bring together physicians, nurses, and other care providers to better manage chronic illness. We’re establishing better information systems to support care decisions, and spending millions of dollars to improve our facilities. We’re taking the lead in a preventive direction, working harder in bringing partners together to tackle health concerns in our communities.
Northern BC offers lots of benefits. These include:
- Safe, family-friendly communities, ranging from a few hundred to 80,000 people;
- A more relaxed lifestyle… leave those traffic jams behind;

For a more detailed view of our region, please click here to view our map.
Northern Health is divided into three operational areas called Health Service Delivery Areas (HSDAs): the Northeast, the Northern Interior, and the Northwest. This structure helps to provide a greater degree of local operation and decision-making for health facilities across Northern British Columbia.
